About Us

At Kevala, we’re transforming healthcare staffing with AI-powered solutions that simplify workforce management. Kevala helps organizations from senior living communities to hospital systems auto-draft smarter schedules, maintain compliance, and optimize operations—giving healthcare teams the freedom to focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional care.

A healthcare crisis and

a call to action

Schedules taped to walls. Endless logins to software no one wants to use. Shrinking teams stretched thin by burnout, and soaring costs. In 2020, COVID-19 blew the lid off a long-simmering crisis: overburdened caregivers, a vulnerable aging population, and a workforce struggling to keep up. For co-founders Todd Owens, Patrick Lawler, and Noah Kusz, it was a call to action. As hospitals scrambled to fill shifts, they realized the problem wasn’t just a lack of staff—it was the lack of tools to manage them effectively.

Healthcare needed a platform built with its unique challenges in mind—not a generic solution retrofitted from other industries. Kevala’s mission was clear: to build tech that people actually want to use, empowering teams to deliver better care without sacrificing their own well-being.

Our Mission

Kevala’s mission is to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare globally, by empowering leaders and front-line staff with innovative tools to build a happier, healthier workforce.

We do this through an AI-powered platform that delivers smarter scheduling, radical usability, and intelligent workflow automation that allows our customers to focus on delivering the best care.

Our Values

Extreme Usability

If it’s not easy to use, nothing else matters. So we focus first and foremost on making software people actually like to use.

Connect all labor pools

You can be confident that every shift is filled with the candidate that makes the most sense – whether internal, PRN, float, or agency.

Data and automation

Harness staff and patient data. Automate routine tasks and equip schedulers with real-time data and insights to make better decisions.

Optimized schedules

Optimize resources, cut costs, and elevate care through data-based, transparent decision-making.

“Scheduling can be pretty boring, but we started there because it’s a complex but critical input to both quality care and employee satisfaction.  By replacing analog and disconnected tools with software designed to actually do the work, our customers are able to focus on their mission knowing that their operation is healthy.”

– Todd Owens, Co-founder and CEO, Kevala

We don’t just fill schedules we solve problems

Our approach? Simple: We don’t just fill schedules. We solve problems. Kevala’s AI Scheduling Agent brings every workforce type—full-time, part-time, float, and agency—into a seamless team. It learns, adapts, and works for you, accounting for qualifications, preferences, and patient needs. The result? Less burnout, better outcomes, and a system that runs the way it should.

We’re not here to tweak the status quo. We’re here to disrupt it. Because healthcare deserves more than spreadsheets and outdated tools. It deserves AI-precision that elevates care, saves precious resources, and empowers action.

Step into the future with us. Let’s rebuild healthcare labor management—smarter, stronger, and centered on the people who make care possible.
